TCM Therapeutic Actions:
Resolves Qi and food stagnation.
Contraindications:
Do not use during pregnancy or lactation. Also use caution with patients with gastritis or peptic ulcers.
TCM Contraindications:
Use cautiously in patients with Spleen and Stomach deficiencies. Prolonged intake not recommended as the normal flow of Spleen and Stomach Qi will eventually be interrupted. Use caution with patients with significant deficiency as this formula is very Qi dispersing.
Pharmaceutical Interactions:
May increase anticoagulant and antiplatelet effects; use cautiously with these types of agents as well as thrombolytic agents and low molecular weight heparins.
May interfere with the action of scopolamine.
Diuretic effect may lead to increased elimination of water and/or electrolytes.
Contains constituents that increase activity of the sympathetic nervous system; use with caution in those using antihypertensive, antidiabetic, antihyperthyroid and/or antiseizure medications.
May lower plasma glucose levels and increase the likelihood of antidiabetic medications causing hypoglycemia.
When used with Cisapride, may hinder potassium inflow causing an increased action potential in cardiac ventricular cells; may increase the action of cardiac glycosides.
Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
