Contraindications:
Contraindicated during acute phase of illness (cold/flu), with cancer, during pregnancy, or in the presence of intestinal parasites, gastritis, or stomach ulcers. May cause drowsiness.
TCM Contraindications:
Use care with patients with Dampness, phlegm, abdominal bloating, Spleen deficiency or loose stools. Contraindicated in patients with Yin-deficient heat, or excess conditions.
Pharmaceutical Interactions:
This formula may INCREASE all the following:
Anticoagulant and antiplatelet effects; use cautiously with these types of agents as well as thrombolytic agents and low molecular weight heparins.
T-cell activity (may lower the immunosuppressant effects of cyclophophamide, cyclosporine and corticosteroids.)
Antiviral effects of acyclovir against herpes.
Elimination of water and/or electrolytes.
Effects of sedative drugs.
Estrogen-like activity.
May interfere with the action of scopolamine.
Sedative and hypnotic effects may reverse the effects of caffeine.
Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
