TCM Therapeutic Actions:
Nourishes Yin to decrease pathogenic Fire.
Contraindications:
Not recommended for women who are pregnant or who have excessive bleeding during menstruation.
TCM Contraindications:
Contraindicated in the early phase of acute illness (cold/flu), Yang deficiency, excess or exterior conditions, or high fever. Use caution with patients tending toward abdominal bloating, loose stools or mucus. Overuse can cool and weaken digestion. Take small doses of Bao He Pian (206 SP) or Xiang Sha Liu Jun Pian (205 SP) to combat cooling effect, or take after eating food.
Pharmaceutical Interactions:
Diuretic effect may lead to increased elimination of water and/or electrolytes.
May lower plasma glucose levels and increase the likelihood of antidiabetic medications causing hypoglycemia.
May interfere with the action of scopolamine.
Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
