TCM Therapeutic Actions:
Strengthens Urinary Bladder function, promotes urination, helps drain and dry dampness, promotes the transforming functions of Qi.
Contraindications:
Do not use if the patient is dehydrated or pregnant.
TCM Contraindications:
Caution with overuse, as diuretic herbs can damage Qi & Yin. Contraindicated in thirst, dizziness or difficult urination associated with Yin deficiency. Use cautiously in women with hypermenorrhea or patients with high risk of bleeding. Contraindicated in patients with Yang excess, or Heat-dominant disorders.
Pharmaceutical Interactions:
Diuretic effect may lead to increased elimination of water and/or electrolytes.
May lower plasma glucose levels and increase the likelihood of antidiabetic medications causing hypoglycemia.
May interfere with the action of scopolamine.
Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
