Hi Biljana, The QiPulse beam is at about 2.5 mm diameter. General guidelines for treating with laser... 10-15 seconds per point. Directly on the skin. Perpendicular works well. You can also change the laser angle based on recommendations from common acupuncture text books. Local treatment for pain... You can treat trigger points. You can use lasers for multiple acupuncture treatment philosophies, just use the laser instead of the needle. Look up the "surround the dragon" approach. This works well for local ashi pain. Red to tonify, blue to sedate... Red if you want to fill an area with energy. Blue if you want to calm an area down. Example: If you have scar tissue that is new, hot and red--use blue. If you have scar tissue that is old and depleted--use red to revitalize.
Hi Pat, Yes the metal body does include copper for the QiPulse Laser.

The Qi Calm and Qi Pulse Lasers work by stimulating energy within the acupuncture pathway via individual acupuncture points. The laser light is placed directly on the skin, at the acupuncture point, and held for 15-20 seconds. Stimulation at the acupuncture point via the light beam then stimulates movement within the acupuncture pathway to rebalance the acupuncture channel. Qi Calm and Qi Pulse lasers do not have the same output as far-infrared heat. The Qi Pulse Red Laser has a 635 nM wavelength. The Qi Calm Blue Laser has a 450 nM wave length. The penetration/power level for these lasers is 5 mW, which is enough to stimulate the acupuncture point. There are multiple styles of acupuncture. We find that the da qi sensation that the patient feels is similar to Japanese style gentle touch needling. Patients do not feel the pain at the insertion point, but many feel the gentle effects of movement in the pathway. Acupuncturists around the world find benefit using this device to gain the desired effects for balancing acupuncture pathways.
