TCM Therapeutic Actions:
Warms and tonifies Kidney Yang.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated during pregnancy. Some patients may experience digestive upset or diarrhea. Use cautiously in patients with high risk of bleeding.
TCM Contraindications:
Contraindicated during acute phase of illness (cold/flu) and with Heat disorders. Use caution with patients tending toward abdominal bloating, mucus, Stomach and Spleen deficiencies.
Pharmaceutical Interactions:
Diuretic effect may lead to increased elimination of water and/or electrolytes.
May lower plasma glucose levels and increase the likelihood of antidiabetic medications causing hypoglycemia.
May increase anticoagulant and antiplatelet effects; use cautiously with these types of agents as well as thrombolytic agents and low molecular weight heparins.
May interfere with the action of scopolamine.
Recommended Usage:
2-3 tablets twice daily with warm water.
