I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Tampa, Florida for the FSOMA (Florida State Oriental Medicine Association) conference. I’ll have to admit that I pouted a little bit about going on this trip… I’ve always wanted to go to Florida so that I could lounge on the beautiful white sandy beaches, visit the Florida Keys, and go to Disney World. I had two big obstacles in the way of enjoying my dream vacation.
#1: Hurricane Irene. Although she didn’t wind up touching ground in Florida, the entire week before my trip the news was projecting that she might. The anticipation of being stuck in Florida while a hurricane came through was not very hopeful.
#2: I didn’t have the time to visit any tourist spots because I was there to work. My schedule was tight and only included time to go from the airport, to the hotel, to the conference for a few days, back to the airport, and home again.
That didn’t leave me much time for the beach adventure that was on my wish list. Even though I missed the vacation part of Florida, I came back very excited and happy about my trip. Why? Because the FSOMA conference was really wonderful. Let me share with you what I learned.
Practitioners in Florida are wonderful!
The heart of acupuncture is really found deep inside the practitioners. The best part of my job is hearing and seeing the devotion that acupuncturists have for their patients and their careers. This weekend I met an array of practitioners. Some had been in practice for 30 plus years, many had been practicing for 10-15 years, and one who graduated only two weeks ago. They all had one thing in common. Everyone had a desire to continue to grow and develop so that they could help more patients.
The Renaissance Hotel in Florida was amazing!
Most of you know that I wear multiple hats. Not only do I work for Miridia Technology as an Acupuncture Research Analyst, I also have a busy private practice, and I am a wife and mother of many children! This weekend I stepped away from my family only to be spoiled rotten by The Renaissance Hotel staff. I don’t know what I loved more—the beautiful feather bed or walking into a bathroom that was ALWAYS perfectly clean. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my family, but getting spoiled for the weekend was a nice treat.
AcuGraph was VERY well received!
As usual, AcuGraph was one of the most popular booths at the show. It is hard to resist stopping at our table because there is always a crowd and the beeping is intriguing. Looking at the energy flow in the body through digital meridian imaging enhances the effect of historical pulse-taking diagnosis by applying modern science.
Here is what practitioners were saying:
“I am so excited to finally experience the AcuGraph. I have been watching you on the internet for years. This program is amazing!”
“Hey—I just read an article about you in Acupuncture Today this morning. I can’t believe that you are here. Can you do a graph on me?”
“Look at my graph… AcuGraph really works! I am very surprised to see that it matches what I find in the pulses.”
Thank you FSOMA for an amazing whirlwind weekend! We loved sharing the benefits of AcuGraph with your practitioners. It was our pleasure to share the AcuGraph system with you. And your board members and hotel staff were a pleasure. True, there wasn’t much time on this trip to enjoy your beautiful white sandy beaches. But I loved attending your conference and will plan on attending again next year–with a couple of extra vacation days planned into the trip!
